nostalgia train

Revisit bygone days as you steam past Lake Brienz and over the Brünig Pass

The Brünig steam railway is a historic treasure. The evocative locomotive runs from Interlaken Ost via Meiringen to Giswil passing the banks of turquoise Lake Brienz and over the Brünig Pass.

During the journey, sit back and absorb the old-time atmosphere. Nostalgia buffs, families and rail aficionados are transported back in time on the Brünig steam railway. From April to October, the train runs monthly on selected Sundays. Throughout the journey on rolling stock more than a century old, you will savour the incredible sight of turquoise Lake Brienz and the surrounding mountains. Reserve your seat on the steam train, chat with family and friends and enjoy the relaxing ride. The staff of the Brünig steam railway will be pleased to answer any questions and cater to your culinary needs. The hissing of the engine, the rattle of the wooden carriages and the smell of burning coal amount to a special experience that lingers in the memory.
