An entire village celebrates the beginning of the grape harvest with a festive procession, a large "Märit" (market) and various activities for young and old alike. At the "Läset-Sunntig", a variety of entertainment awaits you in Spiez, with tastings of alpine Spiez wine on every corner. The event's highlight is the traditional procession with over 30 carriages beautifully decorated in keeping with that year's theme. Admire the creatively decorated floats, the animals and the colourful flowers. And listen to live music concerts with atmospheric performances from a variety of groups. There's something for everyone at this large festival, and even a merry-go-round for little ones. The only wine festival in the Bernese Oberland is a colourful festival for locals and visitors, attracting over 10'000 visitors every year.
The "Spiez Märit" (market of Spiez) is traditionally held on the Monday after the wine festival. Stroll through the colourful market and enjoy a view of Lake Thun and the surrounding mountains or visit the Spiez vineyard.
