A cable car transports you to the peak of the Stockhorn at 2190 m above sea level in just 20 minutes. The Stockhorn is well known for its incomparable views taking in more than 200 alpine peaks. A rock gallery at the summit station brings you directly to the lofty viewing platform in the Stockhorn’s north face. From here, the views down to the town of Thun and its lake, across the Aare and Gürbe valleys and the Central Plateau and beyond to Jura are simply stunning. The Panorama Restaurant satisfies your culinary needs as you indulge and warm yourself on the sun terrace.

The Stockhorn Panorama Restaurant is a modern eatery at the summit serving a wide range of dishes in atmospheric surroundings where you will want to linger. The restaurant also has easy wheelchair access. Soak up the rays on the spacious terrace while allowing your gaze to sweep across the majestic mountain chain of the Bernese Alps. What could be finer than travelling up the mountain in the fresh, clear morning air to enjoy a lavish breakfast? Your excursion to the Stockhorn starts with a generous brunch, and you can enjoy gastronomic delights at the Panorama Restaurant on certain evenings. For example, you can book a romantic dinner beneath on Saturdays with a full moon, or treat yourself to a fine "alp-shine dinner" fondue to start the weekend.

Explore a winter wonderland on snowshoes to discover magically panoramic views and snowy slopes that promise memorable adventures. Signposted snowshoe trails will lead you through the snow-blanketed landscape. Equipped with «big shoes», leave tracks in the glittering snow as you follow signs through the pure white splendour. Book the “Alpine Splendour snowshoe tour” and treat yourself to a guided hike on snowshoes with an experienced mountain guide followed by an Alpine Splendour supper in the Panorama Restaurant. Experience the magnetism and beneficial tranquillity of winter hiking on the Stockhorn. You can explore the wonders of the Stockhorn region on foot using well maintained winter hiking trails. Romantic routes wind around the iced-over Lake Hinterstocken and lead to idyllic mountain cabins on the Lasenberg. An invigorating experience of fairytale nature awaits when you embark on an eventful hiking trip on the Stockhorn.

Sun, fun and relaxation can be yours by frozen Lake Hinterstocken at the Igloo Village, a fascinating venue set against a stunning natural backdrop. From here, you can engage in enjoyable winter activities such as ice fishing and snowshoe trekking. If you would rather spend a cosy day unwinding amid the snowy surroundings, simply relax in a lounger inside the igloo and enjoy peace and quiet over some home-made mulled wine from the igloo bar.

Ever wanted to try ice fishing like the Inuit? Now you can, on Lake Hinterstocken at the foot of the Stockhorn. Make a large hole in the frozen surface of the lake with an ice drill, then bait your ice-fishing rod and wait for a fish to bite while savouring the peace of your natural surroundings and the sun sparkling on the wintry scene. A compulsory fishing licence can be purchased from Chrindi midway station, where you can also rent the ice fishing equipment you need. Please note that ice fishing is only suitable for experienced anglers.
